  2. Marsh Otr on September 14, 2021 at 8:19 am

Wrong… Steve was killed by a SHORT TAILED Stingray. Not an Atlantic stingray. Completely different breed.

I landed on a stingray at Ocean City, MD.
I was on the jet ski out in the ocean jumping waves. I hit a wave and I’m looking down at a piece of cardboard as long as the wave runner or so I thought. When I came down on it, the outer part of it he cardboard (it’s body) came up over the side of the wave runner so I turned around to look at it and that’s when I saw it’s tail thrashing around. I hope I didn’t hurt it, but I wasn’t about to stop. The water was too rough and I’d already seen a nurse shark bigger than the jet ski in the inlet that I had to ride back through to get to our bay.

My very first cast EVER into saltwater (summer of 2019 in Galveston Bay) was a stingray… 18-20 inches across. Right off the beach about 11pm. Put up a heck of a fight for a relatively small creature! I couldn’t believe it!

  13. Leon James on September 14, 2021 at 8:28 am

A sting ray is a fish

  21. Hell Houndz Productions on September 14, 2021 at 8:38 am

"screw that animal!" lol i mean yall tried, what else were you realistically gonna do if you cant even keep him on the surface none the less haul him on the boat

  22. James Huban on September 14, 2021 at 8:38 am

We used to catch skates while fishing for flounders along the CBBT. You think/hope you caught a "door mat" flounder only to see the line start spinning in circles as the fish comes to the surface. Disappointing.
I had a friend who hooked something at the 4th Island and dragged him to Cape Henry. (about 5+ miles) When it finally came to the surface he realized it was the biggest ray he’d ever seen. He said it was wider than his boat. He said that fish had no Idea it was hooked.
We refer to the oyster toads as "Carolina croakers" 🙂
